The Ford GT is blessed with great power right off of the showroom
floor. This largely due to a very efficient twin screw supercharger.
The twin screw design is far superior to the more conventional "roots"
design that appeared on other SVT products. The twin screw design is
much more efficient and produces much less heat during the air
compression process. This is good news for the performance enthusiast.
Having
less heat build up and cooler air charge means that there is room for
more reliable power in the Ford GT. Ford Racing engineers worked hard
to make sure that this power upgrade is safe and effective. A common
upgrade in supercharged applications is to use a smaller supercharger
pulley that spins the rotors faster for more air flow and power. While
easy and effective, this method can also be done incorrectly.
Therefore, Ford Racing engineers went the extra step in developing a
truly safe and effective upgrade for the Ford GT supercharger. Ford
tested this pulley package to ensure that it would not any undue stress
or heat and that the performance gain would be consistent and repeatable
on the first pass and subsequent passes. The Ford GT was the only OEM
Ford vehicle that the engineers determined could consistently benefit
from the pulley upgrade. Other supercharged Ford vehicles are adversely
affected by heat build-up from a pulley swap but not the Ford GT.
The
final result is this pulley upgrade power package. It may not seem
like much, but the package gives your Ford GT an extra 100 horsepower.
That's right, you can easily get 650 horsepower out of your Ford GT with
minimal effort. The kit even includes the required custom tuning by
Ford Racing to recalibrate the vehicle electronics and fuel injection.
The real engineering is in the computer calibration. Ford Racing
engineers test their calibrations through various climates, elevations,
and conditions to make sure that they are the safest and most reliable
power making calibrations they can be. |
