During the week Ken Block is Chief Brand Officer for DC
Shoes, the company he co-founded back in 1994. On the weekends during
race season, he can be found at the wheel of his Ford Fiesta competing
in Rally America events or traveling the world in his WRC Focus as the
only American driver competing in the World Rally Championship.
After years of driving a Subaru in the Rally America series,
Ken Block switched to Ford in 2010 and launched the Monster World Rally
Team. The Monster World Rally Team will be competing for the Rally
America Championship and select rounds of the 2010 World Rally
Championship, driving the Monster Focus RS. His WRC Focus is prepared
and run by the U K based M-Sport, who also prepares the factory Ford WRC
entries.
Block is simultaneously running his sixth season of the
Rally America Championship in an open class Ford Fiesta and plans are to
cap off the 2010 season at the ESPN X-games. In addition to his rally
exploits, Block is a YouTube sensation with his gymkhana project videos.
For 2010, Block is working with Olsberg MSE to build a gymkhana ready
Ford Fiesta for an upcoming video project.
On February 27, 2010, Block won the Rally in the 100 Acre
Wood for the 5th consecutive time. It was the first win for Ford in the
US based rally series. In his WRC debut at the Rally Mexico, Block
impressed the Mexican rally fans with a 9th place finish on the first
day. The second day was not as kind to the rookie WRC driver as an
impact with a ditch forced him to retire with suspension damage.
Look for Block to challenge for a Rally America championship
in 2010 and impress the world's WRC fans with his aggressive driving
style in the Monster WRC Focus.
2011 Gymkhana THREE Ford Fiesta
The Gymkhana THREE Fiesta started as a production 2011 Fiesta
before going through a conversion by Olsbergs MSE, the same group that
runs Ken Block's Rally America program and that won gold at the X Games
the last two years. The production Fiesta is an excellent platform for
the Gymkhana car. The nimble ride and the ultra-high-strength boron
steel body are ideal for the demands of the Gymkhana course. A testament
to the Fiesta platform is that Fiesta has been designated as Ford's
worldwide rally car in both WRC and Rally America starting in 2011.
