The Ford GT utilizes a very strong and compact transaxle from Ricardo. It is fully synchronized with an integral, torque-sensing, limited-slip differential. The twin-plate clutch delivers low pedal efforts while providing the clamp loads necessary to handle 500 ft/lbs of torque.
While these specs are envious for a street driven performance car, they may not cut it by themselves for the aggressive driver or open track enthusiast. Ford Racing engineers have developed a couple products that help to take this car to the next level.
Ford Racing began by shortening the throw of the shifter and making it stronger for serious gear banging. This new short throw shifter for the Ford GT allows the driver to change gears more quickly, with greater precision, and while keeping the vehicle RPM's in the sweet spot during acceleration.
