Minnesota based Rally America was created in 2002 by a
longtime rally competitor and currently holds the sanctioning and
marketing rights to the Rally America Championship.
The Rally America events have a grassroots racing feel and
are supported by hundreds of dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers and
course workers. Each year, Rally America sanctions a combination of
regional and national level rally events attracting thousands of
spectators and the best rally drivers, co-drivers and support teams in
North America.
In 2010, Rally America will feature a 6-round Rally America
National Rally Championship from January through July supported by at
least 20 regional rally events. These rally events will take place in
six different states across the country - from Maine to Washington and
from Michigan to Missouri.
For the fifth consecutive year, Rally America is returning to
ESPN's X Games in sunny Southern California in early August.. Last year
at the X-Games, Ford launched its factory Rally America team with the
X-Games entries of Kenny Brack, Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan. After
several tough rounds of competition, Kenny Brack driving a Ford Fiesta
defeated Subaru's Travis Pastrana in the rally finals.
For 2010, Ford has teamed up with Ken Block to form the Monster
World Rally Team. Block and the MWRT will compete in the Monster Ford
Fiesta against the Subaru Rally Team USA and a number of privateer
Mitsubishi EVO's and Subaru STI's.
Block's 2.0-liter turbocharged Fiesta, modified to the Open
Class specification for Rally America, is capable of producing over 330
hp at 8,000 rpm. Block and the Monster World Rally Team will campaign a
2011 Ford Fiesta based on the race-winning European Rallycross Fiesta
prepared by Olsbergs Motorsports Evolution.
